Three years ago I had twenty-one readers. Not sure how many I have now, but I’d say it’s at least twenty-nine. If you’ve never commented, leave your girl a comment! Let your voice be heard! (Seriously, if you don’t know me, and you don’t mind saying, I’d love to know how you arrived at my little corner of the internet.)
I went on a second date with Billy Joel two years ago, which led to a discussion of poontang management in the comments section.
Nowadays, if he insists, I do let the dude pay, but I tell him I’m treating the next time. And when I say ‘nowadays’, I mean ‘in the last year but not since the Dutchman debacle’, because actual-nowadays I’m avoiding every thought of dating, filling all emotional holes with dogs, and seriously contemplating single motherhood.
I was irrational a year ago. I KNOW. HUGE SURPRISE.
Happy Retrobruxist Friday, y’all.
Just so you know… I read your blog almost daily and look forward to it as a treasured break from my work day. Your new foster dog is adorable and I had to apologize to my office mate for the outbursts of laughter while reading the chronicles. While most days your blog makes me laugh I have to honestly say I had the opposite reaction with the Dutchman and would love to give him a piece of my mind if I ever had the chance.
You are a true gem!!! Thank you for consistently brightening my day!!!
I started reading when I was experiencing some sadness after my first foster dog was adopted–looking around the internet to see if I was truly crazy or just dog-crazy. I love the foster chronicles but also the dating/life/relationship stories.
Hey Amy. Guilty. I’m a silent reader, but I CAN do better. I LOVE your blog. Repeat LOVE. And I’m sure others are out there just like me – well, not JUST like me, thank goodness, but you get the picture. I just love your new foster – she looks so sweet. One of these days I’m gonna get me one of these bullies. ????
I’m a friend of Mary Barzee’s and found your blog when she posted a link to it. Needless to say, I’ve found it endlessly entertaining and compelling. This blog has become one of my favorite ways to avoid work.
Still around. I don’t get the same kicks out of posting snide or acerbic replies any longer, but the writing is still entertaining.
Another silent reader! I found your blog after hearing you host the Monti at MotorCo. Yours has quickly become one of my faves and I love reading your posts. I also work in Education and have a dog that I’d be lost without.
But! I’m regularly heartbroken by your descriptions of yourself. Between seeing you out in Durham, and the pictures you post online, I couldn’t disagree more with your version of how you look. From what I’ve seen, you are super cute and not fat. Certainly not fat like you talk about being fat. Again and again, the words you use and your reality don’t match up for me. Sorry for the unsolicited opinions, but it’s something I’ve thought about mentioning for quite some time.
Unsolicited opinions welcome, Jessica! After all, this the internet! :) Thanks for reading.
I found you a few years ago in the comments section of Ian Williams’ blog. I went to Carolina from 88-92, work in education, albeit alternative education, and I’m obsessed with my dog. Your blog is fun to read because you write like we’re all old friends, and one can never have too many of those. Cheers!
Hi Amy!!! I started reading after I saw you hula-hooping the first time in the gym. I just knew you were awesome! (I actually have know idea but I like this story best).
Thanks for commenting, commenters! Some of you I knew about, and some I didn’t. I appreciated your reading my stuff, and I’m glad you’re entertained.
I read your blog all the time… New entries are like little bedtime stories for me. And we only live 1.4 miles apart from each other. I love you!
I found your blog by googling “fat crossfitters” actually, sometimes feeling like I’m the only one in the world. I have been CF’ing for 18 months, have pretty much every female lifting PR at my box and I’m still fat and often discouraged. Loved your fat Crossfitting post so much that I’ve kept reading the rest of the blog. Nice work!
Welcome, Teresa! I love the fact that you got here by googling “fat crossfitters”–hahahahahaha. And listen, we’re sexy beasts, and don’t you forget it.
Read your whole Happybabypants blog via mutual friends at Seawell, and my own twin experience. Now working through this one from the beginning:) love it, but you really should write that book.
