You know who Cynthia Nixon is, right? She played Miranda on Sex and the City but garnered more attention after the show had wrapped when she left her boyfriend of 15 years for a woman.
This seems to be a thing. A thing that happens.
It has happened to a former co-worker of mine; one of my acquaintances; a very good friend; and a woman who told her story at the Monti. Just to name a few.
Each identified as straight her whole life. Each was married to a man. Each’s marriage ended (in death or divorce). Each met and fell in love with a woman and now maintains a healthy, happy relationship with her.
So I’m in. I’m telling it to the Universe. Universe, I’m asking you to send me a woman who’ll turn me gay.
I mean, I’ve never identified as a zero on the Kinsey Scale, more like a one. I think women are beautiful and occasionally sexy and really fun to be around. That’s about it. I’ve never had sex with a woman or even considered being a relationship with one.
But hear me, grad_student203: you and the rest of your ilk are turning a perfectly good straight woman into a lesbo.

I’ve been trying to swing that one for a while now, but even a lawnmower haircut and two years at a women’s college were no match for my stubbornly straight genetic wiring. Maybe if we go to one of those evangelical treatment centers where they try to turn gay people straight, we’ll be cured inversely of our terrible hankering for menfolk.
